Tractor & Cow Wedding Cake Topper

October 15, 2007

Lately a lot of people have been asking me if I’m excited to get married when they actually mean ‘Are you excited to have a wedding?’ You see, I’m completely psyched about getting married. I’m looking forward to making a public commitment to the man that I’ve loved for the past 5 years and will love for the rest of my life. I am not excited about the following:

Fortunately, I’ve already found the perfect cake topper. The cake topper that outdoes all other cake toppers. Yeah, I don’t even know if I’m going to have cake (probably will because my future husband likes traditions like that even though he’d prefer to eat chocolate cheesecake), but I do know what is going to top whatever dessert we select:

Okay, okay. So some of you will still hold more love for the more expensive ATV Cake Topper (after all, it is customizable). But if you really, truly want to go country for your wedding, you can’t do much better than this $37.00 doozy from Wedding Collectibles.

Oh my goodness. I obviously did not spend enough time looking for cows on Google’s image search. This is genius and you are awesome.

You’ll definitely be seeing some in-love animal cake toppers anytime I feel uninspired by the usual wedding crap.

Cows aside a minute -totally know what you mean about looking forward to saying your vows in public. Having done it- it is one of the greatest things we can do. When you are in the moment it has the ability to lift you to a high place indeed I felt, confidence, achievement, pride,contentment-it’s the best feeling.

However, the months before can be great too. When you put together something that is authentic to you, a day that reflects you and expresses who you both are, it’s enjoyable, fulfilling and it can be a really unforgettable time in your life with some special memories-like asking lily to be your MOH It’s your wedding journey, warts and all-there is so much to get from it-just look at it as creative act, rather than a commercial one-it will change your perspective.

when my aunt got married, her cake was a cheesecake. but it looked just like a “real” wedding cake. and she said it was less expensive too. (go figure.)

I think it is the frosting that jacks up the cake price. As soon as you have something that involves man-hours (rather than baking-hours) you’re going to see a price increase.

I am also getting married soon (my fiance sent me a link to your site which - as I’m sure you know - is great) and I love cows, but this is a bit much. What, are they going to put it on top of a Holstein patterned cake?

(Plus, I 100% agree with the whole, “isn’t this exciting planning a wedding?” It’s as if this one day is more important than the next 80 years my fiance and I will have together…)

Two years ago, my friend found herself knee-deep in a John Deere-themed wedding. [The hideous green and yellow and all.] From her description, this is exactly the cake topper that the farm-enthused couple chose. I feel like someone rode in to the ceremony on a cow, but I might have just made that up.

    [Love the site!]

How in the hell do you find this stuff??? lol.

Dina - I’d hate to think of what black frosting would do to those photos.

Julia - I have a lot of respect for folks to take a theme (Lord of the Rings or John Deere) to the max. I think it shows that they have a lot of fun in their lives. Well, unless the theme is Tiffany Blue. Then I just think that they like overpriced jewelry)

Kelley - Finding weird stuff is a lot easier than it used to be because people send me a lot of funny things. I also just spend time a couple times a week browsing wedding websites and seeing if there’s anything that gives me an instant gut reaction of “Oh no!”

I’ve been following your site for quite some time now. Although I’m a wedding planner *gasp!* I get really good laughs from your blog. I have clients (sometimes) who ask for absurd things like these. Thankfully I’m not one of those people who like to grin and nod then let my clients look like fools on their wedding day.
    Great material. Keep it real!

Has anyone seen this site? www.featsofclay.co.uk I came across it the other day. This lady certainly has some talent. Check out African topper on the first page!

I like the black and white cupcake tree idea. It is simple. Inexpensive, chic and fun. No wedding cake topper needed. I once handpainted a bride and groom to look exactly like the bride and groom. I even included the wedding flower colors in the bride’s bouquet. It took me 2 months. The bride and groom called off the wedding and I felt bad charging for it. So…I gave it away as a white elephant gift. What is the point of wedding toppers? You can’t eat it.
