Tea Pot Tape Measures

October 24, 2007

For the last twenty minutes I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of a time when I was out and had just my purse (thus I am not at home where I have a regular tape measure) and I really, really needed to measure something. Ikea? No, they have free paper tape measures. Plus, all of the tags list product dimensions. . . . Am still thinking. Pretty much all shopping is out. If someone is selling you something, they can probably tell you the height or length or depth of the product.

I give up. When could I use this?

Tea Pot Tape Measures

Ladies will be pleasantly surprised to receive this truly fitting find, a miniature little white teapot that’s more than just a keychain. Gals can hook them onto their keys or slip them into a purse and when they need to…they can measure up some fun!

I cannot stop picturing a really, really awkward evening at the Chippendales Club. Just imagine all of your gal friends getting trashed and then whipping their favors to ‘measure up some fun’ with the dancers. If that’s your vision for a bridal shower (Maids of Honor, I’m looking at you), these favors are just $1.65 each for your first 1-23, available at Wedding FAVORites.

Oohh! Sign me up! What a gift! I might have to get a divorce just so I can get remarried, just so I can have another Shower, just so I can then register for this amazing item.

I just figured out why you’d totally need a tape measure like this on your key ring! Imagine you’re looking for a parking spot in the city–that hell of hells–and find a great parallel-parking spot close to your destination. But as you size up the spot, you’re not sure if it’s big enough for your car! So you drive around the block another dozen times and park two streets over, in what looks like a bigger spot. The handy little teapot tape measure could’ve TOTALLY prevented this catastrophe!

    Lady, you are a genius.

I did figure out a practical application for this item. Let’s say you’re shopping around for picture frames at second-hand stores. A lot of frames come in unusual sizes, so having a mini tape measure on hand would help a lot.

It’d be great for a knitter. The chain is used to attach it to the knitting bag for easy access.

I my mom carries one all the time. She sews and my dad is a carpenter. They are all the time measuring stuff. They are major DIY types. When I was building a house I kept on one me.

I carry a tape measure with me all the time. In fact, I buy extras because I occasionally misplace them. I sew, and I also shop at thrift stores. It’s a great way to save time figuring out if a garment will fit you; in fact, the same process works just as well in a regular shop: if you have the measurements of clothes that you know fit you (the CLOTHES, not your own measurements), then you just measure the garment to see if it’s worth trying on. That way you don’t have to worry if one designer’s size 8 is someone else’s size 8 - or size 2, or size 26, or whatever. You can instantly check a leg length or a waist size to see if it’s right. It’s even more useful if you’re shopping for other people, if they’re not with you, but you have their measurements.

Okay… I see no use for it. I carry a tape measure with me but it is the laser kind. I really don’t see the point of bridal showers. I am not having one. I get a bachelorette party and wedding gifts and that is plenty.
